Life Mapping– The Secret To Success

Written by funker on August 19, 2010 – 3:17 pm

Success is so much more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Like a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, “Hi, I’m Jean and I am a 17-year old, senior highschool student.” It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation.

To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status. Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Upon introspection, Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

The Success Mindset – The Easy Guide To Self Improvement And Positive Thinking – Part 1 Of 2

Written by funker on July 10, 2010 – 3:22 pm

Self improvement and Positive Thinking are mantra’s you frequently get told about by Self Help Gurus’s. In fact you are possibly BORED STIFF of hearing about them. But nevertheless, thinking bigger, bolder and brighter is a good place to kickstart our quest to discover exactly what a success mindset constitutes. And more importantly, how YOU can get one for yourself!

In this article I am going to discuss the Success Mindset and how it has the power to change your life. Hypey sounding? No doubt. But true nevertheless. Successful people still have two arms, legs and eyes. So the fundamental differences are not physical. We all know of people (Like Christopher Reeves for example), who have every right to feel sorry for themeselves. In a wheelchair. Paralysed from the neck down. Yet he carried on raising enormous amounts for charity. Starred in a film remake of the Hitchcock Classic ‘Rear Window’, and wrote his autobiography. All from his wheelchair! Never a better example of ‘If you get given a lemon. Make lemonade’ has been illustrated. So, instead of bitching. Stand up and make the best of whatever your situation is. The success mindset starts exactly there. In the mind. So start seeing the obstacles as opportunities. You may as well smile when its raining. Because frowning isn’t gonna close up the clouds!

Self Improvement and Success Go Hand in Hand

Written by funker on June 29, 2010 – 3:20 pm

How do you know if a person is willing to attain self improvement? This is a question with no definite answer. It will all depend on the individual.

Many people have goals, dreams or ambitions but do not know how to go about achieving them. They may have thought about what would make up self improvement and their ideal life, but have no idea how to even begin to make the plans and take the actions required to make them a reality.

Some people have a vague idea on how to go about self improvement. These are the ones that believe that if only they had a better job, or had been given better opportunities, or met the love of their life, or whatever else, everything would be fine and they would be happy.

They feel that their happiness or lack of happiness is decided by external factors and their thoughts and actions are of little consequence.

Some believe that if only they had more money they could have whatever they want and be on their way to self improvement.

Self Improvement And Your Success

Written by funker on May 30, 2010 – 3:20 pm

Everything that happens to us happens for a reason purpose. And in some cases, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over yesterday pain, embarrassment and failures, treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success- achievement motivation.

So, when does personal improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start? Consider the following steps.

1) Stop thinking and feeling as if you are a miserable, that you are cursed, because you are not. You have to consider your self valuable. You have to accept your self so that others will accept you also.

2) When you see hunks or sexy models on television, think more on self improvement, not self pitying. Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs- great body. You have to feel the thing called inner beauty.

3) When people feel so down and low about themselves, help them cope with that feeling. Do not go down with them because this can make both of you weak. They will pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling miserable.

Process Mapping: Ten Tips for Success

Written by funker on May 27, 2010 – 3:16 pm

I see many organizations, both large and small, continue to communicate fragments of important policies and processes to employees through one-time emails and the like. This could include a new purchase authorization policy or a new data entry procedure. Expecting employees to forage through past emails and other transitory type documents only leads to wasted time and exasperation.

Process clarity is one of the three key foci in effective organizational design, along with people and technology. Yet with the haphazard process management common in many businesses, it is little wonder that employees struggle to do a good job. How an invoice is processed, customer complaint handled or engineering drawing approved in many organizations depends more on who does it and what day of the week it was done on rather than on sound business reasoning. Where process and role clarity is lacking, personal idiosyncrasies and political maneuvering take over.

Moreover, research indicates that less than 20 percent of product defects and service problems are due to non-random factors, such as malicious employees, machine breakdown and poor raw materials. The other 80 percent or more of problems is due to systemic deficiencies with processes. So, although mapping your business processes is relatively simple to do and involves no costly capital expenditure, it pays huge dividends in business efficiency and employee commitment. If you are thinking about mapping your processes, here are ten key pointers to keep in mind.

1. Involve employees who actually do the work in the mapping

Speed Reading: From University To Your Home

Written by Dr. Jay Polmar on May 8, 2010 – 3:31 am

What started as a university lecture course has evolved into an affordable do-it-yourself course designed to make everyone “from stay-at-home moms and dads to administrative assistants to MBAs to CEOs” more valuable to their company in the form of The Complete Speed Reading Program.

The Complete Speed Reading Program, Family Edition, has four books (available both as a PDF download and “if desired” in print):

Speed Read in Only One Hour teaches the basic techniques and has multiple reinforcement exercises. If You Can Read This, You Can Read Faster is specifically designed for children. It is written at a third-grade reading level to help give young brains the best chance to re-learn how to read. It also teaches the basic techniques of the program. Be Dynamic Through Speed Reading is essential for anyone looking to go to college or go back to school. Focusing on concentration, note taking, and recall, this book will help students wade through the millions of words that need to be read each semester and give them time to not only finish their studies, but also to have a social life.
