In February 2002 Ben decided we were going on a holiday. All I was told was to bring a change of clothes for the week, togs, and a nice dress. On the night of Valentines, we had a stretch limo to Cowrie where we had a stunning sea food course with sparkling white wine. He kept staring at me all night I got paranoid I had something on my face, to which he answered, “Can’t I stare at the one I love?” he looked so nervous. I thought it was the sea food! After dessert, we were taken back to our cottage where we then left for a walk along the beach. He then stopped, told me how special I was to him and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, got down on one knee and proposed. There was a beaming beach light behind me, which reflected on Ben and the beach like the perfect moonlit night. I was so happy and excited I squealed, jumped up and down and said yes. Of course I hugged him. We were so lost in the moment that we totally forgot about the ring until we were about to walk back to our cottage. It was perfect. Read more...

Glenn and I met at a mutual friends’ house one night 7 years ago. It was definitely love at first sight as we have never left each others’ side since and are still so blissfully happy as when we first met. Glenn proposed on Valentine’s Day 2007, 5 years later, at the Adelaide Botanical Gardens after a picnic lunch in lush surrounds with the background of flowing water. It was such a surprise and the most memorable experience of my life.
Within two months we were already discussing marriage, we were effectively “engaged to be engaged”! In March 2006 we shopped together for my engagement ring. Over the next four months, the ring nested safely in Nik’s possession whilst I was left pondering when and how he’d actually propose! On July 19 2006, Nik invited all of our family and friends along to our Flanagans gig. I was surprised and stunned when Nik begun strumming his guitar singing these words to the song he’d written.
What we found challenging was getting the wedding chapel and wedding reception venues decorated in time. We had to do the wedding chapel the night before but the wedding reception venue we had to do on the day so it was very hectic. If I had my time over I would have booked the place out the day before and set it up the night before. Read more...

Who doesn’t love candies? Just the picture and the sound of its name could already bring yummy thoughts to our minds. Candy has always been everybody’s favorite. That makes it a staple source of delight in every celebration. Notice how they pump up our Christmas decorations and how they serve well as welcome gifts. That in itself is a living testimony of how well-loved this sweet little thing called candy is throughout the ages.
Candy making is quite an easy and simple process. Common recipes for candy would normally include the following steps: dissolve sugar in water, boil the mixture until it becomes thick and then put it in utensils of different shapes according to your desire. If you want something different you can also use milk instead of water. That way you can give a twist of flavor in your homemade candy.
Most of the time, the ingredients used and the boiling time of the mixture determine the candy’s taste and look. As you can see in the market nowadays, candies have different textures. They can be soft, hard, chewy or brittle in texture. Candy recipes also have various categories such as boiled, confection, fudge, praline, truffle, hard, caramel, brittle, prickle and others. If you are the imaginative and creative type, you can even make your own personalized homemade recipe and get different flavors and colors. Read more...

A millionaire made easy through giving!
There is a Japanese folk tale about the power of giving and it exemplifies how we can get the most wonderful of gifts when we’re gifting things to others and are positive about what we have already got.
Here is the story.
Once upon a time, there was a poor young farmer. Everything he did in his life never seemed to produce any wealth for him. He was totally broke with no money, no family and no food. So one night he sneaked into a temple and sat by the altar and in desperation asked the Gods what he was supposed to do.
“I have always been sincere and industrious, but all my industriousness never became beneficial to me. Where have I gone wrong?”
He fell asleep near the altar just after he put the question. When he woke up in the morning, he saw in front of him one of the Gods he had seen in his dream, with a bright golden light around him. The God’s voice reverberated in his mind.
“When you wake up in the morning, cherish what you have in your hand and go on giving it to others liberally as you proceed,” the God commanded. Read more...
