Is The Exploration In Antarctica Coming To An End?

Written by Bill James on March 12, 2010 – 2:18 am

One hundred years ago, the whaling ship “Antarctic” sailed to the wind-battered, volcanic coast of Antarctica. She sent her longboats on the treacherous journey across the Ross Sea to the rugged shore. On January 24, 1895, Captain Leonard Kristensen and the landing party of the “Antarctic” left the first trace of human kind on the frozen continent in their quest to slaughter whales in these, as yet, unclaimed waters.

It was in blood that Antarctica was christened. Millions of seals were slaughtered for their fur and the whales and penguins in the area were killed for their oil which was used to grease machinery during the Industrial Revolution. It was on Macquarie Island that countless penguins were rounded up and forced up planks that lead into large pots of boiling oil so that they would fall in and add their own oil to the mix.

Boise Real Estate Trends To Watch For

Written by Gavin J. King on March 12, 2010 – 2:13 am

The percentage of Boise home sellers who cut their asking price declined again in February and sellers made slightly smaller reductions in prices, real estate website Zillow.com said on Wednesday.

The median list price of homes, however, fell in January, sources said in a report, which was obtained by Reuters ahead of its scheduled release.

The overall trend of median home values shows that January’s price reduction rate was at 19.8%, while February’s was just a little lower coming in at 19.5%, according to sources.

Asking prices dropped by an average of 6.8% in January to an average reduction of 6.7% in February.

This tendency is not new to the Boise real estate market either, because it has been the trend over each of the last 12 months in a row. The February home sales numbers did not look too hot either, considering Zillow reports that an 8.7% price drop was shown over 33% of listed homes.

The median list price of homes fell 1.4% in February from January, to $205,000, which is down 6.8% from the median listing price in February 2009, sources said.

How To Take A Chinese or Indian Company Public In The United States

Written by James Scott on March 11, 2010 – 2:55 am

With global economics the way they are it would be redundant to rant and rave about the downsides of corporate fund-raising. Quick infusions of cash from venture capital firms and institutional lenders are on hold and it is what it is but companies are becoming creative and corporate attention is steering away from the problems and toward the solutions.

The US and Chinese markets are intertwined in many ways and now a new trend in finance is making the relationship even closer. It’s a fact that Chinese corporations are still trying to figure out how to make their domestic stock market profitable and stable. Many of these companies have global ambitions with unique technology solutions business products and strategies but because of the week Chinese economy (compared to the power of other currencies) they have no choice but to head to the Frankfurt Exchange or the OTCBB market here in the United States.

As a corporate consultant that facilitates the process of going public for both domestic and global entities I have received maybe 5 to 10 calls per year from Chinese companies wanting to set up American corporate subsidiaries to absorb their foreign corporations and trade on the Bulletin Boards but all that has changed. I now receive 5 to 10 calls from Chinese and Indian companies per week to take advantage of the global market place that centers around America’s gravitational pull.

OTCBB, PPM or Reverse Merger:Take Your Company Public Now

Written by James Scott on March 11, 2010 – 2:54 am

Structure your company should spearhead your capital raising initiative. Make sure that your corporate layout is conducive to creating and retaining investor and venture capitalist attention. You should have a solid and elite executive team composed of the best of the best that your industry has to offer and if you can’t attract those in the upper echelon of your business genre, you need to take an active approach to branding them as experts using on and offline PR campaigns labeling yourselves as industry experts who are innovating industry changing solutions. Create a stir, be controversial (but not offensive) and be ready to back up your stir with empirical evidence of your knowledge and success. You should have an advisory board and board of directors composed of industry specialists. Each individual should represent a forte that makes investors start to salivate when they are reading the bio section of your business plan. They should be able to contribute with contract negotiation, strong alliance introduction capabilities and more. When choosing professionals to fill the void of adviser and director positions you should think in terms of corporate ‘growth’ and ’stabilization’.

Film Downloading is Probably The Easy Way To Access Films

Written by Casandra Nielsen on March 11, 2010 – 2:49 am

As long as there have been movies, there has been that excitement for your favorite film to debut. People used to sit on the edge of their seats just to be able to see the trailers for upcoming films. Lines still wrap around the block when the next big thing comes out. People considered it worth the wait to get to be the first to see it, even if that means dealing with all of the annoying parts of having to share the theater with a bunch of inconsiderate people. However, since movie downloads have become more popular, less people choose to deal with all of those annoying details.

There are so many parts about going to the movies that can be annoying. People talk on their phones, put their feet on your headrest, steal the arm room, and drop food and drinks on the floor. A lot of people have decided not to put up with it. They find it better to watch at home.

Rip Zaga and Peace

Written by Jamie Brown on March 11, 2010 – 2:49 am

This day in age, people are turning to religion in droves. Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism has embedded it’s ideology in the hearts and minds of millions globally. While all these religions deserve respect and tolerance, few in the west have a grasp on the complicated concept of Buddhism.

The end all and be all of online encyclopedias, Wikipedia grabs the first slot on a Google search for the term Buddhism and the breakdown reads like this: “Buddhism is a religion and a philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices, largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha (Pali/Sanskrit “the awakened one”). The Buddha lived and taught in the northeastern Indian subcontinent sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.

He is recognized by adherents as an awakened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end suffering, achieve nirvana, and escape what is seen as a cycle of suffering and rebirth. Buddhism is traditionally conceived as a path of liberation attained through insight into the ultimate nature of reality. Two major branches of Buddhism are recognized: Theravada (”The School of the Elders”) and Mahayana (”The Great Vehicle”). Theravada, the oldest surviving branch, has a widespread following in Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia, and Mahayana is found throughout East Asia and includes the traditions of Pure Land, Zen, Nichiren Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism, Shingon, Tendai and Shinnyo-en. In some classifications, a third branch, Vajrayana, is recognized, although many see this as an offshoot of the Mahayana. While Buddhism remains most popular within Asia, both branches are now found throughout the world.
